Attendance Policy

 1. Policy Statement

Croydon Arabic School recognises that regular attendance and punctuality are essential for safeguarding pupils, supporting learning and promoting positive behaviour.

The school is committed to encouraging excellent attendance and ensuring that all pupils benefit fully from the educational provision.

 2. Legal Framework

This policy is informed by:

  •  Education Act 1996
  •  Children Act 1989 & 2004
  •  Keeping Children Safe in Education
  •  Ofsted Education Inspection Framework

 3. Expectations

 Parents and Carers must:

  •  Ensure their child attends every session unless there is a valid reason
  •  Inform the school in advance of any absence where possible
  •  Ensure punctual arrival and collection

 Pupils must:

  •  Attend all lessons and activities
  •  Arrive on time and ready to learn

 4. Recording Attendance

 Attendance registers are taken at the start of each session

 Records are maintained for safeguarding and monitoring purposes

 5. Authorised Absence

May include:

  •  Illness
  •  Medical appointments
  •  Religious observance
  •  Family emergencies

 6. Unauthorised Absence

Includes:

  •  Holidays during term time
  •  Unexplained absences
  •  Persistent lateness

 7. Monitoring and Intervention

Where attendance is a concern, the school will:

  •  Contact parents
  •  Arrange meetings
  •  Agree attendance improvement plans

 8. Safeguarding Considerations

Repeated or unexplained absences may trigger safeguarding procedures.

 9. Review

This policy is reviewed annually.
