At Croydon Arabic School, students do not learn Arabic only through books and classroom lessons. They use the language, speak it, and present what they have learned in front of their classmates, parents, and guests.
As part of the school’s end-of-year celebrations, Level 4 students presented two activities in Arabic that reflected this approach to learning.
The first activity, “The Hobbies Song,” was presented as an engaging poetic dialogue in which students spoke in Arabic about their favourite hobbies, including singing, photography, drawing, and reading.
The second activity, “I Love Sports,” was performed as a group song through which students expressed their love of sports and physical activity, as well as the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between activity and rest.
These activities were not separate from the curriculum. They were a natural extension of what students had learned throughout the year in their reading, speaking, and writing lessons.
Students had practised talking about their hobbies, weekends, the library, swimming, and favourite sports, as well as writing simple sentences to express their interests and talk about themselves.
They then took what they had learned from the classroom and brought it to the stage, using Arabic confidently and enthusiastically in front of an audience.
This reflects the approach we value at Croydon Arabic School: helping students understand Arabic, use it in meaningful situations, speak with confidence, and develop the ability to express themselves in front of others.
We believe language learning becomes more effective when it is connected to practical activities and experiences that children enjoy.
